Tasty parfait and matcha cakes- milk shakes aren't like western milkshakes I'm used to in Australia but are sooooo much better

Puzzled as to this place’s high review. Came here off the back of the high rating. The matcha cake tastes like soap and all the cakes look balls compared to the menu pictures. There’s a 100 better coffee shops in Osaka. Skip it.

When you enter the store, you can feel the Showa era as if you slipped in time!I feel like I have a relaxing time

Food is decent, too bad it’s filled with smokers. Luckily they give you some wet towels to use as a make shift face mask...

Super retro Japanese style “Kissa-ten (cafeteria). Great antique designs, coffee and traditional “hot cake (pancakes) is simple and the best. Reasonable and nice place to rest and refresh.

The coffee is excellent. Hot, strong, not bitter.We usually teamed it with the hotcakes, also excellent, fluffy inside with a slight crunch/crust.Delicious. 5 stars.

The food is too expensive for what they give. It would be understandable if the food tasted amazing, but it's not really worth it.But worst of all and what drove down my score, was the cashier lady. She is very rude. Even if there are free tables and there is absolutely nobody waiting, you will get kicked out whenever you have exceeded whatever time she considers "acceptable" without warning. Judging by other reviews of this place, she seems to be rude in general to various people. I'm very sorry for the rest of the staff, because everyone else seems to be giving their best possible service.Do not waste your time or money in here.

A traditional rich net cafe! The shop is spacious and very relaxing!Sweets for a meal unique to a pure tea room that will be absolutely delicious! I would like to go to the full menu if you are close ♪

In a weird craving for pancakes, we ended up at this cafe. The pancakes themselves were fantastic. Fluffy and rich, and absolutely loaded with butter.The space is beautiful too - there's a stunning chandelier as you walk in and the decor is very retro. There are stories about the staff getting upset if you try and take a picture so be careful - I grabbed one on my way out, so I can't say if they were mad.Price is a bit high, and there is smoking everywhere. Be warned.

The taste is very good! it's one of my favourite stores. The old woman at the cash register doesn't have any affliction, but she is an aunt from Osaka! I feel nostalgic with that feeling. Napolitan, cream soda and pancakes are recommended

Pure Showa-era elegance. The interior is a museum of by gone days

First of all this isn’t the best place for tourist.And isn’t meant for tourists either.I find japanese people are very nostalgic. Every detail of this restaurant reminds me of Showa era. The taste, the decorations, the uniforms and even the old lady at cashier (not very friendly but very Osaka lol)So if you are looking for something « modern », you will be disappointed.But if you like to see how Japanese cafe looked like in Showa era, I would definitely recommend this place.

The old lady cashier in the restaurant was very disrespectful to my wife. She asked if she could use the restaurant's bathroom, but the old lady said to her "No, Get Out"! My wife even asked her again if it would be ok to use the restroom if we bought something. The old lady shouted again "Get Out". If they are this rude to tourist, they should close this place ASAP. This place has no place in a very polite country like Japan. And I hope someone fire that lady who disrespected my wife. I recommend this place to NO ONE and I hear the food is not good and overpriced, and also allows smokers so please do not go to this place.

The food is overpriced and also allows smokers. The atmosphere is ok and the food tastes mediocre at best with small portion sizes. You can try this place if you aren't from America but otherwise heavily recommend you stay away

The inside of the store was very cute and the clerk was very friendly.It was lunch on weekdays, but there were many young girls!The hot cake was moderately sweet and seemed to be eaten as many as possible! Lol

A parlour of bygone glamour unabashedly kitsch in its Art Deco saturated interior. This of course, is the reason to visit. A heavy dose of nostalgia permeates this cafe and if you didn't have your flashy iPhone 7, you might be inclined to telegram a friend and suggest a rendezvous. Don't expect mind blowing coffee or exceptional food, this is a kissaten after all and not a third wave hipster haven. Instead, light a cigarette, soak up the retro charm and try to fit your knees under the incredibly small tables. I dare you.

A Lynchian time capsule of an restaurant, this place is definitely worth it for the experience alone, but don't expect traditional American diner fare. The ham and egg toast was oddly perfect, if a little dry, but the hot cakes come with about one fluid ounce of simple syrup (rather than maple syrup) and the coffee is amazingly bad. Just know what you're getting into and it will be incredible.

Fantastic elaborate Showa kisatten coffee shop. A truly marvelous place to take a moment. Delicious Japanese style coffee and drinks delicious cakes and sweets. Only disappointed was hotcakes are served with gum syrup rather than maple syrup. Simply a delight to attend. I highly recommend taking in a peaceful moment here in the midst of the ultra busyness of the Dotonbori shopping district

Parfait was watery and had clearly split. The service was boarder line rude. Price on the higher end and definitely too high for what you get. Very bad experience. Do not recommend.

Rude cashier lady! We took a photo of the stairs and she shouted “No! No!” How embarassing! She could have politely asked us like every other Japanese. Anyway, Mediocre food and way overpriced! We only ordered pancake, coffee and orange juice and it cost us 1700yen. Osaka is a huge food haven, save yourself the time, money and calories by skipping this one.

A cafe in Namba Sennichimae, where you can see the old-fashioned pure café. We went there in the afternoon on the weekend of July, but the seats were about half empty due to the influence of corona. Like stepping back in time! Loved the decor and feel inside. Downside as a non smoker is that smoking is OK in here. Had the hotcake set, very tasty... but quite small if hungry.

Be sure to visit once a month. You can enjoy the essence of a coffee shop at Showa Retro. The clerk's uniform is also retro. All are delicious. Famous store.
